VP Accounting Policy

Description

Fortune 200 company seeks a Vice President or VP of Accounting Policy.

Responsibilities include the direct oversight and responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the company’s process to evaluate, document and communicate the conclusions reached on the GAAP treatment of business events and transactions.

This position will support the Company’s adoption of new US and IFRS accounting standards through technical research, process modification, computing tool assessments, and project management of the tasks required for implementation.

This position will report to the Corporate Controller and will lead a team of cross functional managers to develop accounting policies and document technical GAAP research papers; to identify and implement best practices to store, manage, review and update the company’s accounting policies; to provide trainings that enhance technical GAAP understanding within the accounting, finance, tax, legal and business development organizations; and to work with teams across the company to effectively modify company policies and processes to adapt to changes from growth and regulatory requirements.

Additionally, this position will also help support the accounting group to support multiple simultaneous new business project launches and assist the teams to identify reporting, controls and processes that would be required to support financial reporting. This person will be expected to take ownership, identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls, and drive positive change across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidates will have: CPA with 13+ years of accounting experience within a Big 4 public accounting firm and who has held a leadership position within an accounting policy group (or similar experience) in a multi-billion company. Candidatemust have demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex, milestone driven projects. Additional traits that we will be looking for is a candidate who has a strong desire to exceed expectations, effective interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills, solid organizational, risk assessment and some information technology aptitude.
